WELLNESS--We have been having record breaking heat in Southern California and with the planet continuing to warm up, there’s a good chance we have not seen the end of it.

This past week Los Angeles and San Diego have felt more like Arizona with temperatures reaching 117 in some places. Heat records all over southern California were toppled and at one point in Los Angeles alone there were over 32,000 residents without power.

WELLNESS--A cleanse doesn’t have to mean drinking awful green potions and starving yourself of everything you enjoy for a month. A cleanse can also be a time of gentle purification. During a cleanse it’s important to note that they’re may be a period of time where one feels more cranky and fatigued. Data shows that in 2016 alone there were over 125 million wearable devices sold worldwide. WELLNESS--It has long been suspected that cleaning chemicals have long been to blame for reduced lung function and potential long-term damage. Finally, a study published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine that followed 6000 people over a 20 year period has linked the use of cleaning chemicals with reduced lung function and damaged lungs. The study compared the effects on these people lungs to smoking 20 cigarettes a day for a 10 to 20 year period.

WELLNESS--There is a new book out called iGen that explores the relationship between screen time and happiness in teenagers. The author states that kids born after the year 1995 … kids aged 23 or younger … have grown up with such a damaging amount of screen time that they are less likely to be happy than kids born before them that have logged only a fraction of screen time.
