JAN 6 - If you're the sort of person who follows the news, you've probably heard a good bit lately about podcaster Joe Rogan, Neil Young's fight with Spotify, and maybe a little about Russia and Ukraine. 

LGBTQ NATION - Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had a cutting response to Christian conservatives became apoplectic in response to Super Bowl Halftime Show, which they said was too sexual.

COMMENTARY - Sometimes reality hurts so much that it helps to escape into fantasy.

MY THOUGHTS - The United States has long been known as a country of immigrants (I’m one), but in addition we are becoming a country of hypocrites.

LABOR VIEW - The laboring masses are restless, as evidenced by the Canadian trucker strike, union drives in Amazon warehouses in the US and in demonstrations throughout the developing world

COMMENTARY - If our qualifications for moving up in the world are reduced to our body parts and skin pigmentation, what a sad world that looks like.

CANCEL CULTURE - A couple of days after the public shaming and suspension punishment of Whoopi Goldberg for saying that “the Holocaust isn’t about race,” I combed the Internet to see if any Jewish leader would cut her some slack.

ISRAEL WATCH - Israel dismisses charges of “apartheid against Palestinians” as anti-Semitic propaganda, and the United States has been an enabler of Israeli racism over the years with its hands-off attitudes toward the inhumanity of Israeli actions on the West Bank and Gaza.

PERSPECTIVE - Commentators on the current Ukraine crisis have sometimes compared it to the Cuban missile crisis. This is a good comparison and not only because they both involve a dangerous U.S.-Russian confrontation capable of leading to a nuclear war.

MASS MOVEMENT - Eric Hoffer was a former immigrant farm worker who achieved praise and fame in the 1950s and 1960s as a writer and philosopher.

COMMENTARY - A Glendale resident recently ruminated on NextDoor about the new policy about separating garbage from trash. 

COMMENTARY - Donald Trump likes to hold rallies on Saturday nights.

SUPREME COURT - White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to a reporter’s question about conservatives who are upset about President Joe Biden’s decision to nominate someone who is a Black woman as a justice to the Supreme Court.

THE VIEW FROM HERE - The most lethal person to the American Republic is Nancy Pelosi and her racist Identity Politics.  Without Pelosi, there would be no Donald Trump.

COMMENTARY - She may not have meant to, but this week Whoopi Goldberg waded into a charged discourse that has polarized the Jewish community — and those who seek to discriminate against them — for centuries.

MILITARY ACTION - President Biden announced Thursday that the U.S. military has "successfully removed a major terrorist threat to the world," ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi.

COMMENTARY - “The concern is misplaced, because if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans.”

THE DOCTOR IS IN – I am not a fan of silencing one side or another when it comes to literature, free speech, race, religion, and politics.

 INFLATION - Starbucks on Tuesday reported a 31% increase in profits during the final three months of 2021.

HOUSING CRISIS - Ongoing homeless sweeps triggered by the upcoming Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, have outraged homeless and housing justice activists.
