SIGN THE LETTER-We, the undersigned members of the Los Angeles City Family, are informed by a wide variety of life experiences and serve in City government in a multitude of ways.

CLIMATE POLITICS-Arctic temperatures are soaring to new records. . .  and staying there, ever since May of this year.

ONE MAN’S OPINION-Mark this one “rank speculation,” or we could call it, “there are too many serious problems without solutions; so, let’s jump into silly land.” 

SPECIAL TO CITYWATCH-The current uproar over Los Angeles City Council member Jose Huizar’s arrest for corruption reminds me of the famous distinction between “dishonest graft” and “honest graft” made by George Washington Plunkitt, a flamboyant New York City  politician in the early 1900s.

VOICES--The biblical verse, "the love of money is the root of all evil," is aptly invoked in reference to the City of Angels these days.

GELFAND’S WORLD--It should never have been an issue. We are in the midst of a serious pandemic that obviously requires some adjusting on all of our parts.

OTHER WORDS-The Supreme Court just affirmed a right I thought I always had: not to be fired for my sexual orientation.
