THE VIEW FROM HERE - Among a host of other facts which no mayor and no one on the city council will admit is that Los Angeles City not only has a glut of vacant housing but also that Los Angeles is far too densely populated. A population density becomes unbearable at 3,000 ppl per sq miles. Los Angeles has 4,800 ppl per sq mi. (NYC has 4,600 ppl per sq mi.) In my opinion, 2,500 ppl per sq mi provides for a better city, but the dividing line where people get fed up and start leaving appears to be 3,000 ppl per sq mi.
Los Angeles Officialdom Tells More Lies than Donald Trump
Rebutting Los Angeles’ Big Lie #1 that We have a Housing Shortage will not change the Woker-Developer Alliance’s plan to loot Los Angeles’ treasury by increasing density. The Woker-Developer Alliance’s propaganda follows the play book which has been the foundation how the City and the Courts have functioned for decades.
For example, in the 2012 lawsuit, SaveHywd and HELP vs City of LA BS 138370, Yours Truly presented the data that Hollywood and soon all of Los Angeles needed to de-densify, i.e., DownZone and DownSize. The response was for the corrupt Chief Justice and her minions to disbar me to deter others from presenting accurate data in court. Being framed by a corrupt judiciary and disbarred is a rather common approach in California. Perhaps, the most famous case was former US attorney Richard I. Fine who showed that Los Angeles County judges were getting hundreds of millions of dollars in bribes from Los Angeles County. The law clearly stated that the counties may not supplement judges’ salaries. Despite the name “Los Angeles County Superior Court,” the courts are state run and judges may only get salary from the state. Los Angeles County was adding to the salaries and virtually always winning in court. The layman’s term for arrangement is bribery. Thus, the court disbarred, fined and jailed Richard I. Fine for his bringing this fact to light. May 24, 2010, Ex-lawyer Jailed 14 Months, but Not Charged with a Crime, by Abbie Boudreau, Emily Probst and Dana Rosenblatt.
Richard Fine barely skimmed the surface of judicial corruption which continued at an accelerated rate after Tani Gorre Cantil-Sakauye became California Supreme Court Justice in 2011. Briefly, as Chief Justice, she controlled the State Bar as well as the Judicial Council and the Commission of Judicial Performance (CJP) and she decided who gets disbarred. She has a rule, In Re Collins, that attorneys may not present exonerating evidence. In fact, the charge can be 100% false. The accusation against me was that Yours Truly had not been hired by SaveHwyd, but the signed contract which had only my name on it was not admissible. State Bar Judge Yvette Roland would only consider her own false accusation.
SaveHywd and HELP Were Correct That LA Would Suffer Population Loss
Recently, the State Department of Finance issued its projection of the California’s and Los Angeles’ populations by the year 2060. Both the state and LA County will have fewer people in 2060 than they had in 2020. By 2060,the County will have 1.7 Million fewer people. Yet, the Woker-Developer Alliance insists we need 457,000 more units by 2030. We already have over 100,00 vacant units. NewGeography California: No Growth to 2060 per State Projections.
When SaveHywd and HELP showed that Los Angeles intentionally used fatally flawed data and wishful thinking to the extent it subverted the law, Judge Goodman rejected the update at to the Hollywood Community Plan. Two years prior, HELP in March provided the data to the City, published it in CityWatch, and based its July 18, 2012 lawsuit on the accurate data. For example:
“Starting in 1990, Hollywood had been in a twenty (20) year decline. Between 1990 and 2000, the rate of decline was 1.4%, but with the advent of Garcetti and LaBonge, the exodus accelerated by 400%, and between 2000 and 2010, the population loss was 6% (5.95%).” The drop was from 214,000 in 1990 to 198,288 in 2010. March 1, 2012, CityWatch, Hollywood Becomes Fraudywood.
During the litigation, HELP showed that the more densification would continue to cause people to leave. As HELP made clear, when the population density grew beyond a certain point, people would vote with their feet. Garcetti’s council district CD 13's densification had driven out so many people and businesses, that by 2010, it no longer qualified to be a council district. Thus, CD 13 took parts of CD 4 and Koreatown in order to re-constitute itself.
The Relationship Between Densification and Population Loss Is Well Known
As Wendell Cox showed on August 7, 2023 in NewGeography America: Moving to Lower Densities Post-2020 Census Data people move away from density. The same fact which motivated the corrupt Supreme Court to disbar SaveHywd’s and HELP’s attorney has been proven to be the prime factor causing people to move away. It is also the cause of homelessness since in order to densify, developers tore down tens of thousands of poor people’s homes, forcing them onto the streets. “By far the biggest net domestic migration loser was California, with a net domestic migration loss of 871,000 over the 27 months.” “ California has the highest urban population density of any state at 4,800 per square mile.” What good did it do Chief Justice to disbar HELP’s attorney? It made certain developer corruption would continue and it deterred other attorneys from speaking out.
The Woker-Developer Alliances Pushes the Debunked Big Lie #1
At the same time that California Department of Finance was showing that Los Angeles would lose 1.7 million people by 2060, Los Angeles’ new housing plan mandates that LA construct 457,000 new housing units by 2030! “The City has set an ambitious Housing Element goal of nearly 457,000 new housing units by 2029.” LABC May 11, 2023 page 2.
At 2.5 persons per household, that is enough housing for 1,142,500 more people by 2030, when the city is hemorrhaging hundreds of thousands of people each year due to excessive density. Los Angeles already has over 100,000 vacant units.
Here’s the Woker-Developer Alliance’s Plan to Loot the City
The Alliance will claim that the new units are necessary because of the homeless. Taxpayers are on schedule to pay developers $1 Million per apartment. This plan suits Wokers like councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez, as it means full employment for the trade unions. There is a name for this type of crime. It’s called Accounting Control Fraud, when corporate or city leaders use their power to loot their own treasuries based upon falsified data. Read The Con William K Black
