Editor’s Memo: Exposing the Dark Corners of LA Politics

WORLD WATCH

CITYWATCH TODAY-I like it when our CityWatch writers are able to shine a little light on some of the dark and dysfunctional corners of LA Politics. This is one of those CityWatch postings where a lot of that kind of exposure is going on. Let me explain.

Drug dealers have been dispensing drugs in the shadows MacArthur Park for much of the last decade. As pain killers go, OxyContin is far and away number one with a bullet. Tony Butka calls it a sleazy business. He also exposes the fact that Big Pharma is one of the chief suppliers to these sleazy dealers and thinks they should be held accountable.

Just a couple of clicks away, CityWatch Watchdog Jack Humphreville, peels away the layers on Metro’s 12,000 word sales tax measure … slated for the November ballot … and uncovers much more than your everyday, plain old multibillion dollar tax increase.

And, leading today’s CityWatch postings, Tim Deegan reports on the people’s victory over shocked Vila Carlotta developer CGI Properties. Tim shines some light on how that all went down … reminding us all that when we all step up … the power is with the people.

All of this … and more … in Today’s CityWatch. Check it out. Let us know what you think.
