Editor’s Memo: What’s In a Name?

WORLD WATCH

CITYWATCH TODAY—What’s in a name, the header wonders. If you’re in the marketing or product branding business, it’s everything. So, more than a few jaws dropped when an LA Councilman proudly ran his new slogan up the old flag pole. In today’s headline grabbing pay-to-play climate at City Hall, how did Councilman Curran Price’s new “THE PRICE IS RIGHT FOR THE NINTH” campaign slogan get past the experts? Jack Humphreville has a theory … in Today’s CityWatch.

Beverly Hills Mayor John Mirisch isn’t sure about President Trump’s alternative facts on voter fraud around the country, but he’s dead certain that Beverly Hills could benefit from an investigation. The good Mayor … and CityWatch contributor … set off the fireworks at a marathon City Council session this week and he sites examples and explains his position in Today’s CityWatch.

Few things get more response at CityWatch than articles about the politics surrounding LA’s Animal Services. Phyllis Daugherty’s CityWatch column … “LA Animal Services Employee Mauled by Pit Bull … Who Cares?” attracted close to 1 million hits so far. We posted it on Monday but in case you missed it we’ve reposted it at the top of the Front Page right column. There are no readers more passionate than animal lovers. Which, it seems, is just about everybody.

That’s Today’s CityWatch. Let us know what you think?
