From Wokeism to Authoritarianism on Day One

VOICES

THE VIEW FROM HERE - While some people may be able to predict the future events, I am not one of them.  There are lots of people, however, who can predict where certain social, cultural and political trends are likely to lead.  We have tons of people in that business. I am one of them.  The fact polarization results in extremism did not require a crystal ball. In 2018, I published “The Dangers of Dichotomy: The Saved vs. The Damned” which I presumed any one passed high school history class could have written.  Skim through Save vs Damned everything should be familiar.

No prescient ability was necessary to see that Americans would hate Dems’ Identity Politics, aka Wokeism, since it rejects the founding values of individual inalienable rights in favor of a system where one’s rights depend on the group to which they are assigned.  Whites and Jews are Oppressors and should always be treated as such, while minorities are always the Oppressed.  In 2018, CNN sounded the alarm about Pelosi’s polarizing Identity politics.  See Identity Politics Is Mistake

While there were pundits and writers who knew that the extremism of Woke DEI would polarize the nation and that the GOP would develop their extremists, e.g. Tea Baggers and then MAGA, back in 2018 no one was predicting how the polarization would play out except to predict it would not be good.  But for Hamas’ Oct 7, 2023 butchery of over one thousand innocent Jews and their friends, the American populace probably would have remained unaware of the dangers of Wokeism.  In December 2023, the inability of the Woke presidents of Harvard, MIT, and University of Pennsylvania to admit that calling for genocide of Jews was contrary to their school’s code of conduct shocked the nation.  Their testimony opened the DEI Pandora’s Box and out flew Wokeism in all its anti-White, anti-Jewish bigotry including the support for Hamas’s goal to eradicate Jews from the planet.  The sheer absurdity of Woke Ideology was epitomized by Gays for Hamas.

In the following months, Americans learned more about Wokeism and its division of the world into White-Jewish Oppressors and minorities, the ever-present Oppressed victims – with no regard for their behavior.  Biden’s absurd commitment to Wokedom consistently lowered his approvals.  Biden said that people who disagreed with his Voting Bill were worse than Sheriff Bill Connor who had unleashed police dogs on civil rights workers.  Biden’s constant blood libels against Jews and his interfering with Israel’s defense was noticed as was his hamstringing Ukraine in its war against Putin’s invasion.  By November 2024, it was clear to a majority of voters that the only way to kill off the Woke DEI was to elect Donald Trump.

While WOKE DEI was a great danger to the nation, we may have the seeds of Donald Trump, El Presidente Pro Vida. Here are the factors which may replace the Republic with a dictatorship where the President serves for as long as he can hold power.

A -- The Supreme Court’s Two Trends:

(#1) Denial of Inalienable Rights

As shown Dobbs vs. Jackson Women's Health Organization, 597 U.S. 215 (2022), the Supreme Court is hostile to individual inalienable rights. Similar to Wokeism, The High Court shuns inalienable rights.  For Justices like Alito, recognizing any federal inalienable right increases the power of the federal government over the states’ rights.  Thus, women have no federal right to life, no right to liberty and no right of Happiness.  As the Supreme court ruled in Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. (19 How.) 393 (1857) that Black slaves had no federal rights, under the Dobbs Decision women’s rights are a matter for voters in individual states.  Under Dobbs women have no inalienable rights.

(#2) The Court’s Aggrandizement of Presidential Power

As the Court ruled in Trump v United State, 603 U.S. 593 (2024),  “President [has] absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official act.”   In practice, this means a President is above the law.

Americans should note: If Nancy Pelosi had not twice violated her constitutional oath by depriving both impeachments of the evidence necessary to convict Trump in the Senate, Trump would have been ineligible to run for President.  Rather, Pelosi believed Trump’s running amuck in the GOP would benefit her career.  “Unchecked The Untold Story Behind Congress’s Botched Impeachments of Donald Trump” by Rachel Bade and Karoun Demirjian See  Unchecked.

Because Trump will appoint any new justices between now and 2028, there is no reason to believe that the Court will not advance its themes (1) of reducing federal rights in favor of what States’ voters decide and (2) of increasing Presidential power beyond control.

B -- Pete Hegseth’s Confirmation of Secretary of Defense

Hegseth has been shown to be a liar, a likely thief, and predator in addition lacking both the intelligence and experience to run a modest business let alone one of the largest bureaucracies in the world.  Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s cowardly capitulation to Trump’s threats was despicable.  Trump has now openly threatened all GOP Senators that they have no choice but to unanimously approve all his nominees. How Sen. Thune has the gall to appear in public is mind-boggling. As Hegseth’ acceptance speech shows, he owes allegiance to Donald Trump and Jesus but not to the US Constitution.  Indications are that Hegseth will allow the US military to be used as Donald Trump’s personal army.  Hegseth refused to testify that he would reject Trump’s unconstitutional order to turn the US military against American citizens.

C -- Pardon of the Violent Insurrections

These convicted felons have been not only exonerated but they are being emboldened to form more private militias beholden to Donald Trump.  They are already threatening the victims of January 6th who testified against them, and the Trump Department of Justice is refusing to cooperate with protective orders for the endangered witnesses.  The J6 insurrectionists will expand private militias to intimidate and physically attack anyone who does not support Trump.

D – Trump’s Challenge to the Constitution’s Birthright Clause

One trend which Trump pushes is that the Constitution says whatever he wants it to say, e.g., infants do no gain citizenship by being born in the USA. Trump undermines the US Constitution by blithely ignoring it.  Will the militias show up in sanctuary cities like Chicago?  Previously, private militias attacked State Capitols, e.g. plot to kidnap Michigan’s Dem Governor Gretchen Whitmer. With Thune’s capitulation and with Hegseth at the Pentagon, who can stop these private armies? Another constitutional challenge could be to the 22nd Amendment which limits a Trump’s to two terms.  Despite his age, Trump has more vitality than people half his age, making it feasible that he will want to continue in power through his 80's into the 2030's.

In assessing Trump’s anti-Constitutional predilections, one should remember that Trump knows that if the DEMs win in 2026, he becomes impotent.  Thus, the trends indicate that Trump is preparing for subversion of the Republic including declaring martial law with Pig Hegseth’s support to make certain he stays in power until 2028 and beyond. On the other hand, maybe not.
