ALPERN AT LARGE - It’s funny how the political psyops are supposed to play around with our heads, with gaslighting and spin doctoring and childish garbage we’re supposed to tolerate.
Part of it is human nature, part of it is immoral nonsense. Neither is OK.
So lemme get this straight—Trump bulldogs his way through one criminal and civil attack after another, gets shot, challenges Biden to a debate…and he’s afraid of debating Kamala Harris?
Whether it’s GOP and right-wing claims of “lawfare” or an “assassination attempt” on Trump, the Democratic and left-wing claims of Trump being scared of Harris ring similarly hollow to anyone outside the fawning, Democratic/Big Media orbit.
Let’s be straight to the point:
1) Kamala Harris is NOT the Democratic nominee for 2024 until she is certified in Chicago at the DNC Convention.
2) On the other hand, Kamala Harris IS the President of the United States if Joe Biden resigns NOW, because Vice-President Harris isn’t officially certified yet, and can immediately debate Trump if Biden resigns.
3) Democrats very much are concerned about “democracy”, “voting rights”, etc. and are now THROWING AWAY ANY HIGH GROUND they perceived they had with 1/6/2021 with throwing a candidate (Harris) at Democrats without any “mini-primary”.
4) Harris WAS a weak candidate who dropped out of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary race and is an even weaker candidate now for 2024.
5) Trump HAS promised to debate Harris if she is confirmed by the Democratic Party at the 2024 DNC Convention at Chicago.
Unlike 2020, Harris has a record, and she’s tied in to the health and policy failures of Joe Biden. The CNN moderators did a great job with the Trump/Biden debate, and the American people deserve another professional debate between Trump and any Chicago-approved Democratic candidate.
Questions abound for Trump, who did indeed dodge more than a few questions at the aforementioned debate. It’s not inappropriate to adhere to David Axelrod’s assessment of that debate, which is that Biden lost, but Trump didn’t win.
There are questions that must be asked, and issues that Trump and the GOP can, should, and will raise:
1) What on earth DID Harris do as “the border czar” for Joe Biden?
2) What on earth DID Harris know about Biden’s mental decline as she kept defending him, and saying everything was juuuuuust fine with Biden’s abilities, stamina, and cognition?
3) What on earth WILL she do about inflation and soaring living costs that are just not going away?
4) What on earth WILL Harris do about blatant Cabinet failures such as Buttigieg and Mayorkas?
A lot of bad things are happening to Americans on Main Street, and Wall Street’s rises both help only the rich and will pale to any rise that will occur if Trump throws away anti-business regulations and allows the middle class to spend more.
So, let’s just enjoy the Olympics for now.
Because both Harris and Trump will very soon say and do things to make asses out of themselves (at least, in the eyes of their opponents).
But right now, stating that Trump—who just responded HOW to being shot with jumping up and screaming “fight, fight, fight”—is afraid to debate Harris is only just going to piss off and motivate conservatives and independents who are sick of the verbal posturing that made Democrats throw out Harris in 2020 from the primary.
There WILL likely be a Trump/Harris debate—but we’ll have to wait until Harris is officially and constitutionally certified (despite the anger of a lot of stymied Democratic primary voters) for that to happen.
