Editor’s Memo: I Know, But He’s My Groper-in-Chief

WORLD WATCH

CITYWATCH TODAY- Political history is full of elected officials who managed to get elected … and reelected … in spite of their misdeeds. Corrupt officials, sexual deviates, crooks … some actually in jail … elected or reelected by voters with an ‘I know he’s corrupt but he’s my corrupt senator’ kind of attitude. His supporters know he makes it up as he goes along, that he has serious conflicts of interest, that he is a groper extraordinaire but, they will explain, ‘he’s my groper extraordinaire.’ As Trump resistance grows across the US, Tom Jacobs offers some advice: If you want to win this battle, you will have to change the narrative. Lenny Isenberg reviews filmmaker Ava Du Verney’s Oscar-nominated film … ‘13th’. Says it’s a tour de force. More import, he says Jim Crow hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s alive and painful and debilitating just as it’s always been. Don’t buy that view? Consider that Blacks make up more than 42% of our prison population. Another form of slavery? Of Jim Crow? Read the Isenberg column and you decide … in Today’s CityWatch.

And … as always … let us know what you think.
