CommentsALPERN-AT-LARGE-It's probably a safe conclusion that many, if not most, Angelenos, want LA Mayor Eric Garcetti to become President Biden's new Ambassador to India just to get his failed mayoral leadership as far away from Los Angeles as possible.
Like. . .as in. . .Garcetti to go to the other end of Planet Earth!
Arguably, it's hoped that he can take Raquel Beltrán of DONE, as well as the pro-Homeless-Until-LA-Is Unlivable champion Mike Bonin and the rest of the corrupt City Council, to boot.
After all, India has neighborhood associations, although these entities still have some power and relevance -- Garcetti would be the perfect person to destroy them like he's "done" to DONE.
And for those of us who've seen the massive reduction of independence, power, and relevance of Neighborhood Councils under Mayor Garcetti (inability to weigh in on planning and homeless issues with any credibility, inability to run elections and draft/maintain their own bylaws, etc.), well, Garcetti can do what he does best in India. . .
. . .which is to smash the grassroots and favor large, powerful, wealthy and connected entities over there as well. Kind of a shame to hurt the Indian people.
But hurting the people appears to be what Garcetti does best.
Ditto for his DONE-stooge Raquel Beltrán, whose assignment and orders have been to smash the wonderful DONE that Mayor Richard Riordan (that "evil Republican,” fighting against the common man/woman by promoting neighborhood empowerment!) set up in order for Mayor Garcetti (that "wonderful Democrat," fighting for the common man/woman by destroying neighborhood empowerment!) to effectively end it.
Now that DONE is proposing that "Belting Beltrán" can suspend an elected or appointed Neighborhood Council Board Member or Committee member without ordinance or charter amendment, why have any Neighborhood Councils at all?
And with the Democratic Socialists of America running things, it's presumed that "Mega-Homeless Man" Mike Bonin can tear up India, under Garcetti's tutelage of course, to destroy that country the way that our earnest CD11 Councilmember has done to Los Angeles west of the 405 freeway. After all --the more homeless, and the more lawlessness, the better!
We know who Bonin, Garcetti, and the Downtown Elites pander to -- the Democratic Socialists, with Big Tech and Big Developers funding the Fools, Tools, and Ghouls who run LA now.
So. . .go for it, Mayor Garcetti! India's an even bigger entity to screw up than lil' ol' LA! Set your sights on something big and mess up hapless India.
Pretty sad for the Indian people. Lord knows with COVID-19, widespread poverty, and ethnic/gender inequality, they deserve better.
But at least the City of the Angels would be free from the Smilin' Devil that is Eric Garcetti.
