THE DOCTOR IS IN - For the record, I'm a "country over party" kind of guy. I may have an "R" behind my name as my political affiliation, but it's not my religion (I'm Jewish, not Republican...because parties aren't supposed to be religions).
ELECTION UPDATE - In one of the more animated and interesting forums in the race to succeed retiring Councilman Mike Bonin, the gloves came off Thursday (10/20) evening during a council forum sponsored by the South Brentwood Residents Association that was viewed by roughly 100 hundred or so members.
OP/ED LA ELECTION 2022 - The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) has placed a measure on the November ballot that would cost homeowners an additional $25 per $100,000 of assessed value of their property per year.
OP/ED - As a Neighborhood Councilmember I am inspired by the concepts supported by Empower LA of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
LA ELECTIONS - As many as three new insurgent candidates could join Los Angeles City Council this December.
LA POLITICS - When Rick Caruso and Karen Bass started throwing mud at each other in their last debate for mayor of Los Angeles I could just feel it coming.
DEEGAN ON LA — “Defund the LAPD”, “Abolish Jails”, “Elect Hugo Soto-Martinez” is a formula voters in CD13 are being offered as an alternative to re-electing two-term incumbent Mitch O’Farrell.
ONLINE BETTING - Odds are, one of the many ads for legalizing sports betting has snagged your attention, given their ubiquity on TV, websites and billboards across California.
LA ELECTION 2022 - The Los Angeles Superior Court has granted an injunction ordering companies owned by Rick Caruso to cease suppressing criticism of their owner’s failing political run at the Grove, a 750,000 square foot shopping mall.
THE VIEW FROM HERE - Don’t get all excited; LA city will still be a corrupt feudal society run by oligarchs.
DEEGAN ON LA— Much has been made about the leftward tilt in Los Angeles politics that now runs the scale from centrist to moderate to progressive to radical.
THE VIEW FROM HERE - This morning a new Rick Caruso TV ad was on TV.
THE EASTSIDER - Tuesday September 6th, was hot and humid. However, it did not stop a crowd of around 200 Angelenos from coming to meet Rick Caruso in person.
DEEGAN ON LA—Crime stopping is former Police Commission President Rick Caruso’s calling card. Criminal corruption is a shadow that is now drifting toward Karen Bass and clouding her mayoral campaign.
CD10 UPDATE - There is a power cabal at City Hall and they have selected and crowned the New CD10 representative Heather Hutt while ignoring complaints about process and refusing to consider any alternatives.
THE EASTSIDER - Almost a year ago, I urged all candidates for Mayor to promise to replace the General Manager of DONE and the (unpaid) members of BONC upon becoming Mayor.
CAL MATTERS - It may be tempting to make too much of what happened Tuesday in California’s two most prominent cities, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
ELECTION ANALYSIS - It’s Election Day three hours before the polls close and 17,475 voters out of 133,978 have cast their ballots in Council District 15, that’s barely over 13% who have voted.
ANIMAL WATCH - The City of Los Angeles is seeking a new City Controller.
LA ELECTION 2022 - Doctor Melina Abdullah, a 20-year tenured professor of Pan African Studies at Cal State LA, sat amidst the empty seats in the back of the auditorium to watch the debate when suddenly the Police was called to remove her.
