City Of Inglewood: Notice Of Public Hearing To Raise Certain Fees In The Water Department

SOUTH OF THE 10 - The city of Inglewood will hold multiple public hearings Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at 2 p.m.

The city will take public input on increasing rates in the water department and seek input on the Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2020 and ending September 30, 2021. As of now, the regular city council agenda for Dec. 7 has yet to be published for the public’s review.

The city continues to take extraordinary steps to keep the public from attending in-person meetings in council chambers.

Residents who call in to the council meetings are routinely interrupted, badgered, and challenged by Mayor James Butts when they describe their experiences living in the city.

Tell your neighbors that because you were smart enough to reject higher property transfer taxes, on the Nov. 2 ballot, the City now wants to raise fees on your water bill.

Interestingly, the city is seeking comment on a document residents haven’t seen. The city expects to have the CAPER available online by Dec. 10.

The Mayor and Council Members of the City of Inglewood, California will conduct a public hearing on December 7, 2021 to consider comments on the Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2020 and ending September 30, 2021. The CAPER is presented annually to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) by the City of Inglewood in compliance with the statutory and regulatory requirements for reporting program performance and accomplishments for HUD Consolidated Planning Grant Entitlement Programs. The City participates in two entitlement programs: The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME).

The required major components of the CAPER include assessments of the City’s performance in meeting the following: Consolidated Plan Goals and Objectives, Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, Providing Affordable Housing Opportunities, Continuum of Care Support Services, Leveraging Resources, Citizen Comments, and Self-Evaluation. The narrative statements summarize the community development and housing goals and objectives listed in the Consolidated Plan and provide a description of the activities undertaken during fiscal year 2020-2021 to meet those goals. Comments received during the public review period will be included in the final version of the CAPER, submitted to HUD.

A copy of the CAPER will be available for review be available for review online by December 10, 2021, as part of the City Council Agenda at www.cityofinglewood.org
