THE VIEW FROM HERE - This analysis is based on facts, which may or may not be true, since facts have been divorced from reality for quite some time.
(1) Kevin McCarthy is amoral. He has no policy goals other than self promotion. Kevin is not even loyal to his own lies. His detachment from morality gives him great political freedom. “Kevin basically is whatever you want him to be. He lies. He’ll change the lie if necessary. . . . I can’t recall a time when he came into my office to talk about substantive political policy. (2) Similar to McCarthy, 90% of members of Congress are amoral and power politics is their only religion. “They [congressional Dem and GOP] prioritized their fear of political consequences over flexing Congress’s constitutional muscle and doing what most, at the moment, believed was right [convict Trump].” Unchecked The Untold Story Behind Congress’s Botched Impeachments of Donald Trump, by Bade and Demirjian page 591 Convinced that Trump was a lethal danger to the Republic, they nonetheless placed a possible short term inconvenience in their political careers above protecting the nation from a madman.
(3) In reality, America has four political parties. The extreme GOP Right (15%), the extreme DEM Left (15%), the moderate GOP (85%), and the moderate DEM (85%). The 15% extremists control their respective parties. Since the moderate center is composed mostly amoral cowards, they are easily intimidated.
(4) If McCarthy continues to shill for Trump, Trump will shiv him in the back. Trump sent a mob the murder his own vice-president. If McCarthy thinks that Trump can be trusted not to hire secret assassins next time, he’s too naive to be in Washington politics. (Only after he was convinced that the insurrectionists could not locate and hang Pence, did Trump call off the mob at the Capitol.)
(5) If McCarthy should be foolish enough to kowtow to the Freedom Caucus to become be Speaker, he’s a dead man walking. He will only be able to do what they want, and afterwards, he’ll be more useless than Mike Pence.
These Facts Can Combine to Make Kevin McCarthy The Next President
Here is the truism which McCarthy needs to embrace. “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Lord Acton 1887 A political fool places his faith in other men. Only power balances power. If McCarthy becomes House Speaker with Freedom Caucus’ support, he will have no power to counter-balance the violent right wing. We’ve seen that the most GOP pee in their pants when anyone suggests that protecting the Republic is a moral imperative.
The DEMs have the same problem with their Wokeism and its non-stop promotion of Black Victimhood and the intrinsic hate of all things White. The Wokers control the Party and recently have turned against the Mexican councilmembers in Los Angeles based on their own Big Lie that one councilmember called a Black toddler “a little monkey.” Blacks are 8% and Mexicans are 48% of Los Angeles, and Wokers are self-appointed spokespersons to the Black community. Only an idiot sides with the 8% who are dead wrong and are acting like QAnon. Both parties need to throw off the yoke of their extremist element. As the last elections showed, many GOP and DEM voters are beginning to reject the Alt Right and the Alt Left.
Kevin Has One Option Which Will Solve His Short Term and Long Term Goals
Make a deal between the moderate GOP and the moderate DEM in the House to make him Speaker. That will free both parties from tyranny of their insane extremes. Members of the minority party may defy convention and vote for the leader of the majority party to be Speaker. If a large percent of DEMs vote for McCarthy, the Woke Dem leadership will not be able to penalize them. Congressional Institute Dec 28, 2018.
As majority Speaker, Kevin will have to please two similar factions - moderate GOP and moderate DEM. By nature both are policy oriented and open to compromises. The moderates are closer to each other than they are to the lunatic fringe of their own party. Because a centrist coalition will have 85% of the votes, the moderates will trounce the Freedom Caucus on the right and the wokers with their Identity Politics on the left. As Kevin McCarthy should know, nothing succeeds like success. McCarthy will not quibble over the legislation of a centrist Congress since McCarthy has no policy agenda other than self-promotion. As Speaker of centrist House, McCarthy will ride a wave of legislation which the majority of Americans find reasonable, while Biden will still be the Wokers’ pet rock.
Two facts to remember: (1) Congress is devoid of morality, and (2) When Congress members’ political survival depends on centrism, they will shun the extremes – not because it is right but because it is politically safe.
Will the Alt Right or the Alt Left go silently into the night? Of course, not. The Trumpists attacked the Capitol and the Los Angeles wokers likewise attacked city hall. McCarthy has one question to ask himself. Do I want to be Trump’s toadie and then tossed aside or do I want to be President?
