CommentsGUEST COMMENTARY - Every year prior to Thanksgiving, Los Angeles City Council members purchase large quantities of Turkeys which are to be given out to their needy, low-income constituents.
The turkeys are paid for by Los Angeles Taxpayers’ dollars via each council district’s discretionary funds.
I can only address CD 14. Prior to De Leon, former CD 14 Jose Huizar would hand out 15-20 turkeys to his various cronies within CD 14. They in turn would give them out to their neighbors and friends, most of whom could afford to pay for their own birds.
De Leon has followed in this tradition of giving out turkeys to his supporters and cronies. Yes, De Leon did give out some turkeys this year to those in need - seniors and a few school groups.
However how does Kevin DeLeon explain how one of his taxpayer’s purchased Turkeys ended up on the Thanksgiving dinner table of Indicted criminal, former CD 14 Council member Jose Huizar?
To name just a few, most established and elected democrats including the Governor of the state of California, President of the United States, California US Senators and fellow Los Angeles City Council members have asked that Kevin DeLeon resign from his elected position as Los Angeles City Council District 14 representative. De Leon refuses to step down.
It would be fair to state that both DeLeon and Huizar display a narcissistic personality. A mental condition in which they both have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They both need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. They both may lack the ability to care about the feelings of others.
Jose Huizar's Federal criminal trial is set to start in February 2023.
Kevin De Leon continues to receive his full paycheck and use of his city provided car and gas card and refuses to step down.
Corruption in Los Angeles City Government continues as usual.
