GREEN ROSETTE-YIPEE! green rosette’s first succulent sale last weekend was huge success! We are now planning our second event and will announce it here!
Our wonderful customers asked great questions.
Lots of folks asked whether they can grow succulents in their homes and offices. The answer, in most cases, is YES! Just remember a few simple guidelines:
Plant those gorgeous babies in well-draining soil. Mix ordinary soil with perlite or pumice or compost to help with drainage, or use specially made cactus and succulent soil mix.
Make sure your pots have drainage holes. So easy to overwater a succulent. Too much water and no way for the excess to get out can lead to root rot. Rotten roots mean dead plants. There go your expensive babies.
Not required, but consider using a bit of cactus and succulent food from time to time.
Give your indoor beauties enough light. A couple of hours of bright or even filtered light each day is enough for most succulents. There’s a diff between bright light and intense direct sun, though. Intense sunlight can burn your plants leaves, so be aware.
All indoor plants do best with air circulation. Succulents, in addition, prefer dry rather than moist air. Too much humidity and inadequate air flow make these babies vulnerable to unwanted guests, like mealy bug. What’s that? If you see tiny white cotton candy-like spots on your plants, that’s the stuff. Just dab those little suckers with q-tips moistened with rubbing alcohol. Those sticky mealy bugs will be gone.
