Nazarian Facing Questions on Running for Two Offices

ARCHIVE

DAILY NEWS-Is Assemblyman Adrin Nazarian looking to pull off what Councilman Bob Blumenfield was able to do last year? As in, run for his state office in this November’s election and then turn around and run for a City Council seat in 2015.

Nazarian says he is only interested in winning his Assembly seat, though he noted he has been approached by a number of folks urging him to get in to the already crowded race to succeed termed-out Councilman Tom LaBonge for the city’s 4th District.

LaBonge has heard the rumors and said he asked Nazarian what his plans were when the two were at a recent event.

“I told him I couldn’t endorse him for re-election to the Assembly if he was going to turn around and run for the council,” LaBonge said. “Of course, the voters will get to decide in the end, but I just think if you run for one office, you ought to serve out your term.”

LaBonge said Nazarian told him no official decision had been made, but he does like the idea of being closer to home.  (Read the rest of Rick’s Tip Off here)
