LA’s Neighborhood Councils: Kid’s Play

ARCHIVE

GLASSELL PARK-This past Tuesday night, the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council was the victim of a juvenile attempt to thwart their Special Meeting. Driving up to the gated parking lot, of their well known community center in North East LA, they found a padlock and chain had been used to keep it from opening.

The “Special Meeting” had been called after tampering with the posted agenda had resulted in their regular monthly board meeting being canceled last week.

Community members and reps from the City Council offices watched as calls were made and a couple of community members, (after breaking 2 bolt cutters) made it through the chain. Meanwhile, the non-plussed new Chairperson, Molly Taylor, sat in front of the gate, with the Minute taker, and the gathering crowd, and called the meeting to order. There was quorum, so the meeting began.

Both LAFD and LAPD showed up, but after the meeting had moved inside, and reports have been filed.

The proper authorities are looking into the unauthorized chaining and padlocking of private property, leased by the City of LA.
