(Los Angeles) – Yesterday, the Los Angeles Times announced its official endorsement of David Roberts for Los Angeles City Council, 9th District.
“Of the seven candidates in the field, the one who stands out as having the most thoughtful and achievable program to meet those challenges is David Roberts,” reported the Times. “His 11 years as a council staffer in the neighboring 8th District, including a stint as Councilman Bernard C. Parks' director of economic development, give him a leg up on his rivals when it comes to understanding what it will take to bring dollars and jobs to the 9th.”
“I am incredibly humbled to have received the endorsement from the Los Angeles Times,” Roberts said. “I am proud of how hard our team and volunteers have been working and this endorsement shows that our campaign is truly making a difference in South LA. I am thrilled to add this endorsement to our continually growing list of support we’ve garnered along the campaign trail.”
Roberts will be facing a field of six other candidates in the primary election on Tuesday, March 5th.
David Roberts was born in Los Angeles and has been actively engaged in South LA since the 1992 Civil Unrest. Before announcing his candidacy, David worked as the Associate Director for Local Government Relations at the University of Southern California. Prior to his work at USC, David served as the Deputy for Economic Development for South LA Councilmembers Mark Ridley-Thomas and Bernard C. Parks. He was awarded the Outstanding City Partner Award by the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative in 2009 and was appointed by incumbent 9th District Councilmember Jan Perry to serve on the LA City Council Redistricting Commission in 2011.
