LAHSA Equal Access and Gender Identity Regional Forums - April 13

Equal Access and Gender Identity Regional Forums - April 2017
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority in partnership with the LA LGBT Center is holding three forums for the Los Angeles Continuum of Care (LA CoC) to educate HUD-funded providers about the updated Equal Access rule on services for transgender and gender diverse clients. Each forum will include an interactive training by subject experts from the LA LGBT Center to increase participants' knowledge and skills in using appropriate, inclusive language with all clients it serves. It is an excellent opportunity to gather with your colleagues across the county, to find common challenges and solutions, and to get the support you need to ensure equal access for everyone.
Please be sure to register for the session you would like to attend as space at each site is limited to 100 participants. Registration will close on March 24.
Session 2: April 13, 2017 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
23031 Drayton Street
Santa Clarita 91350

Who Should Attend?
The purpose of HUD's Final Rule on Equal Access is to address gender-based discrimination in all Community Planning and Development (CPD) programs, which includes recipients and sub-recipients of the following programs: Continuum of Care (CoC), Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG), Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), or providers funded in whole or in part by these programs.
LAHSA is fully committed to supporting the community in incorporating the Equal Access and Gender Identity Rule. We advise that at least one program manager from your agency attend if you operate any of the above programs, but you may invite other staff if interested. All service providers regardless of funding source or program type are encouraged to attend.
Brief Survey: Tell Us What You'd Like to Learn
Implementing this rule may mean a significant shift for you or your staff. It may also require that you revise program standards and operating procedures at the time of intake, referral, enrollment or unit/bed assignment. With that in mind, we invite you to let us know in which areas you need the most support by completing this survey.
