Re: Article Entitled “Public’s Right to Know …”

LOS ANGELES

EDITOR’S NOTE: On February 1, 2018, CityWatch Los Angeles published an article with a number of false statements regarding Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC). The article titled "Public's Right to Know: How Did Ref Rodriguez Spend $30 Million of Taxpayer Bond Money?" was malicious, misleading and false, ~nd did not meet CityWatch Los Angeles' editorial standards. As a result, the article has been retracted and links to the story have been disabled.

Contrary to statements in the article, PUC Schools did not spend millions of dollars in taxpayer bond

money. Also, PUC Schools did not refuse to provide records pursuant to a California Public Records

Act request, and PUC Schools actually responded to the request. Moreover, PUC Schools is not and

never was a real estate development company, does not and never has owned Alliant University, and

it does not obtain State of Californ ia bonds through TriLakes to build schools. PUC Schools is not run

by Ref Rodriguez and is not affiliated with Ref Rodriguez. CityWatch had no basis for publishing

statements that PUC Schools borrowed more than it spent, that it paid persons affiliated with Ref

Rodriguez, or that PUC Schools cannot account for all of its funds - all unsupported false

statements.

CityWatch Los Angeles regrets the errors and apologizes to Partnerships to Uplift Communities.
